We are glad to present to you a Bulgarian ship building company located in Varna and unique in its kind in the region. GALERA 07 Ltd. was founded in 2007 and specialized since in the construction of innovative eco-friendly solar powered and electrical catamarans, pleasure crafts and service ships. GALERA 07 Ltd. is one of the leading low-tonnage shipbuilding companies in Bulgaria and the Black Sea region. A number of projects have been completed so far in its shipbuilding portfolio: fishing vessels, multipurpose speedboats, catamarans. The company also participated in the construction of merchant ships, floating cranes, tugboats and more.
Until the end of the year, the Varna small-tonnage shipbuilding company must deliver to the Municipality of Silistra a new all-electric catamaran that will provide a transport and communication link along the Danube River with the town of Calaras.
Silistra’s upcoming new tourist catamaran is probably the first entirely electric vessel built in Bulgaria. According to the assignment, the vessel must have a length of up to 14 meters and a width of up to 6 meters. She must have a crew of two and accommodate up to 28 passengers. The maximum speed of the boat is up to 13 km/h. and it is foreseen to be equipped with two electric motors. The vessel is funded under the Interreg V-A Romania-Bulgaria 2014-2020 Program. The allocated funds are close to 2 million euros, and the partners in the project are the District Council in the Romanian city of Calaras and the Municipality of Silistra in Bulgaria. The aim of the project is to improve the waterways and infrastructure on both sides of the Danube. It is planned to build two river stations, one for each side of the river.
This is not the first green-energy project of this SME. In 2021, “GALERA 07” handed over to the Municipality of Burgas a catamaran “BURGUS” with combined solar and DG electrical supply which maintains regular services to local attractions.
The company is also specialized in manufacturing of a wide variety of ship parts, pipework, air conditioning, ventilation systems, and performs all kinds of hull welding repairs and reconstructions of vessels.
Thanks to its in-house innovative design and ease on new technologies, the company has demonstrated capacity to participate in different types of partnerships for the design and construction of new vessels, eco-drones for cleaning EU waters, ecological transportation of goods and people, floating houses, etc.
Target market are countries from the EU and EEA. The company is also willing to expand to new markets in countries from the Middle-East and Africa.
