Blue Economy Will Add Strength to the Eastern Black Sea

An online workshop titled “Current Trends in Ship Construction and Transportation in the Black Sea Region” was organized within the scope of the Strengthening the Blue Economy in the Black Sea Basin Project supported by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF).

Speaking at the workshop where the problems, needs and solution suggestions of the blue economy sectors in the region were discussed, Eastern Black Sea Development Agency (DOKA) Secretary General Kemal Akpınar informed the participants about the work carried out by the Agency on the blue economy.

Akpınar stated that the Eastern Black Sea Development Agency will focus on work in the aquaculture, coastal tourism and shipbuilding sectors, which have great potential in the Eastern Black Sea Region, in the coming period, and said that the region will achieve significant social and economic gains with the increase in the added value of blue economy activities.

At the workshop, where companies operating in the field of shipbuilding were also invited, successful companies of the region shared information about current production and export activities and new products planned to be manufactured.

The meeting also discussed the problems and needs of the blue economy sectors, the projects that can be developed in cooperation with DOKA, the public, private sector and NGOs in order for the region to generate more income from the blue economy, and the blue growth target, measures and financial support programs determined within the scope of the 2024-2028 Regional Plan study. suggestions were discussed.

Officials of project partner institutions from Turkey, Georgia, Bulgaria, Greece, Ukraine and Romania and representatives of companies operating in the shipbuilding sector attended the workshop.
